CHEWORE NORTH ANTIPOACHING OPERATIONS ROOM
ESTABLISHMENT OF AN ANTIPOACHING OPERATIONS ROOM, KAPIRINHENGU, CHEWORE NORTH
Through it’s European Union funded CITES MIKES project, Tashinga Initiative has refurbished an existing office room into an Operations Room for Chewore North’s antipoaching efforts. This provides a stepping stone towards a fully operational control centre. Zimparks Kapirinhengu Ranger Station plays a vital law enforcement role on Zimbabwe’s very remote Zambezi River border. Together with stakeholders, and other law enforcement agencies, Zimparks Rangers patrol extraordinarily rugged and steep terrain through the Chewore Mountains which guard Zimbabwe’s north-eastern protected area, including in the rugged Mupata Gorge.
Poaching of elephant and other game for bushmeat, poaching for fish is ongoing and Zimparks puts in fantastic effort to combat this scourge. If you wish to support their efforts, please get in touch with me firstname.lastname@example.org or visit www.tashinga.org/donate.
